Youth Fencing Lessons in NYC
(Ages 7 to 9)

This youth fencing program expands on our 4 to 6 year old classes, further introducing students to the sport through games and play. Our classes focus on doing more than just teaching your child to fencing. We walk students through a range of activities to improve coordination, balance, strength, reaction, and concentration. These activities compliment their fencing training and increase their overall athleticism, setting them up for success as they progress in the sport.

  • As former fencers, my husband and I put a lot of thought into where we wanted to bring our young children to start fencing. I asked several friends still involved in coaching fencing and they recommended trying Sheridan. We have had the best experience and are so grateful to the studio.

  • While it's a great place for younger kids to fence, it's also a great starting place for adults with little to no prior experience! The coaches are fantastic, it's a fun environment, and a wonderful way to pick up a new hobby that happens to be an awesome workout.

  • Sheridan Fencing Academy provides an exceptional job at teaching their students the fundamentals of fencing. My child has made so many friends here, which is an added bonus. If you’re looking for a spot for your child to grow mentally and physically while learning a great sport, then this is your spot!

Our coaching philosophy

Our goal at Sheridan Fencing Academy is to help kids discover that anyone can be an athlete. Many people become convinced that sports aren’t for them because the training they’ve been exposed to was either boring or militaristic. The secret to get someone to love sports (or any activity) is to make it fun! At Sheridan Fencing, we understand that the more fun you have, the more you can achieve.

This starts right from the beginning in our kids fencing lessons. We focus on creating an environment where our students are free to do what kids do —have fun!

  • Great training is FUN training

  • Everyone has the capacity for success

  • Talent is a myth—success comes from motivation, dedication, and perseverance

  • Quality training engages more than just the body; it engages the mind

  • A love of training is always more important than competitive results
